Lithuanian rabbi of the beginning of the nineteenth century; born at Grodno; died at Byelostok. He was at first head of the yeshibah at Grodno; then, in 1813, he was called to the rabbinate of Tiktin, where he remained until 1824, in which year he was invited to the rabbinate of Byelostok. He was rabbi of that city until his death. Moses Zeeb Wolf was the author of: (1) "Mar'ot ha-Ẓobe'ot" (Grodno, 1810), novellæ and notes on the seventeenth chapter of the Shulḥan 'Aruk, Eben ha-'Ezer, containing the laws concerning the "'agunah"; (2) "Aguddat Ezob" (Byelostok, 1824), homilies for holy days and certain Sabbaths, followed by "Allon Bakut," nine funeral orations; (3) novellæ on the four parts of the Shulḥan 'Aruk (only those on Oraḥ Ḥayyim were published, by his son David; Warsaw, 1858); (4) responsa, three volumes of which apply to the Shulḥan 'Aruk—Oraḥ Ḥayyim, Yoreh De'ah, and Eben ha-'Ezer (Wilna, 1886).
