DAVID BEN JACOB:

Rabbi of Szerezow, government of Grodno, Russia; one of the most influential rabbis of Lithuania at the end of the eighteenth century. He wrote "Ḥomot Yerushalayim" (The Walls of Jerusalem; Frankfort-on-the-Oder, 1807), containing a commentary to a portion of the Shulḥan 'Aruk; i.e., to the Oraḥ Ḥayyim from its beginning to the laws concerning tefillin.
