DOSA (also known as Dosai):
Palestinian amora, probably of the fourth century. The Jerusalem Talmud has preserved two of his halakic decisions, and Midrashic literature several of his haggadic utterances. Among the latter is the assertion that the dangerous "snare" from which God will protect man (Prov. iii. 26) is the function of judging in matters of religious law. Dosa died on the new moon of Nisan. This date was especially recorded, because on that occasion refreshments were offered to the mourners (Yer. Mek., end), a custom not usually observed on semi-holidays.
