KEMPNER, GABRIEL:
Polish jurist and author; born at Kalisz, Poland, July 4, 1855. After having finished his curriculum at Kalisz he studied law in the University of Warsaw, where he was graduated.
Kempner has written lyric verses and translated the works of Heine, Richepin, Shelley, De Amicis, Ibsen, and others, and also Byron's "Manfred," Ponsard's "Enamored Lion," and Fulda's "Talisman." He is the dramatic critic of the "Przeglad Tygodniowy."
