German mathematician; born at Hanover in 1759; died at Berlin Dec. 5, 1849. He wrote: "Reshit Limmudim," a text-book of natural science (part i., physics and geography, Berlin, 1789; Brünn, 1796; Cracow, 1820; part ii., natural Philosophy, with additions by Wolf ben Joseph [Joseph Wolf of Dessau], Dessau, 1810; complete ed. Lemberg, 1869); "Shir Ḥatunnah," epithalamium in honor of Judah ben Solomon of Hanover (n.d., n.p.).
